Road Closures in Polk County
Posted by: Reposted by Central Florida Cities on Mar 3, 2023 5:03PM
Countywide construction projects continue to impact Polk County traffic. The following Polk County road closures will detour traffic and slow commutes.
• Crews Lake Road in southeast Lakeland closed for 30 days today just south of the intersection at Crews Lake Drive for a potable water line project requiring roadway excavation. Through traffic is not permitted, but access will be maintained for residents.
• Saturday morning, March 4, specialty contractors demolishing structures at the McIntosh Power Plant in Lakeland will close East Lake Parker Drive for about two hours to maintain a prescribed exclusion zone. The City of Lakeland Police Department will redirect traffic from 10:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or until the “all clear” is given.
• Powerline Road from East Johnson Avenue (County Road 580) in Haines City north to South Boulevard in Davenport will close daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for 90 days starting Monday, March 6 for the relocation of utility poles by Duke Energy. Relocation is progressive and detours will be determined by the advancing work zone.
Commuters are advised to drive safely, observe detour signs, and to add extra time to trips through these areas. For more details, call Bill Skelton with the Polk County Roads & Drainage Division at (863) 535-2200
